Mende
Lozère
Between mountains and limestone
in the upper Olt valley, Mende is ideally located in the heart
of the Lozère. This former capital of Gévaudan is
a land of legends and nature between Margeride, Aubrac, Gorges
du Tarn and Cevennes.

the park wolves, the park bison and Utopix. When the snow is waiting
for you, the landscape of the Mont Lozère and Lake Charpal
are unique. In winter it becomes possible to discover the area,
by foot, snowshoe or cross country skiing.
The highlights of the city center around some night markets Tuesdays
from mid-July to mid-August and markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays
throughout the year, to discover the riches of the region, the
Feast of the non-pareil (April 12), the endurance race of Trèfle
lozérien (1st weekend in June), the half marathon Marvejols
- Mende (5000 participants,-3rd weekend of July); of Art in Street
(mid summer), and Grandes Fêtes de Mende (several days in
mid-August); Rally aéronautique (August); mycological Days
(1st weekend in October) Christmas of Advent in December. The
many restaurants and artisans of the country of Mende are renowned
for the quality of their dishes (meat and sausages, tripe, aligot,
cheese, biscuits cepes ...).
