Notre Dame Portals
The realization of Portals has been started shortly after
the beginning of the yard. All have beautiful doors with
leaves decorated of wrought-iron sculptures
Portal of the Last Judgment
On the Eardrum, the central stage represents
the Christ who listens to the Virgin and Saint Jean to make
themselves lawyers of men. The Pier carries the Christ's
statue that had been destroyed by Soufflot to enlarge the
entrance; it has been re-established by Viollet the Duke
to the XIXth century.
Portal of the Virgin Marie
The Portal on the left is dedicated
to the Virgin Marie and is described the different episodes
of her life with in top the stage of her coronation. The
Pier also represents the Virgin with the Christ in her arms.
Portal of Saint Anne
The Portal of Saint Anne dates of the
first years of the construction of the Cathedral. On the
Eardrum the Virgin Marie is sat on a throne, she is surrounded
of two angels. On the right is the King Louis VII, a knee
in earth; on the left it is the bishop Maurice of Sully.
The Pier of the central pillar represents Saint Marcel,
Bishop of Paris to the Vth century.
