THE TOWER EIFFEL : Practical informations
The Eiffel Tower was constructed in 1889 on the occasion of the Universal-Exposure that had celebrated the centenary of the French Revolution.

50 engineers, drawers executed 5.300 drawings; 100 workers shaped 18.038 iron pieces ; 121 workers worked on the building site.
The EIFFEL TOWER is light, it only exercises a pressure of 4, 5 kg/cm2 on its foundations. If we place the Eiffel Tower in a cylinder of air, its weight doesn't exceed the weight of cylinder’s air.
Weight of the metallic framework : 7.300 tons.
Total weight : 10.100 tons.
Under the effect of action, the summit moves from 6 to 7 cm. During the heat action, the summit describes a curve being able to go up to18 cm. Measures 1889 (height with flag): 312, 27 m; Measures 2000: (height with antenna): 324 m
