"the tree differently..." Old property of the Vilmorin family dating from the XIXth century,the national Arboretum of Barres grew richer with the passing of years thanks to the discoveries of the famous botanists, and gathers today one of the richest collections of trees and shrubs coming from the five continents. In this single place where ther exist nearly 8500 subjects, strange, rare or astonishing (sequoia of more than 46 meters, trees with the handkerchiefs, trees with gum...), three trails of discovery allow visitors to take advantage of ambiances, perfumes and the changing flowerings during seasons..
Formerly reserved to only specialists of the plants, the national Arboretum of Barres, which receives today more than 20000 visitors per year, became a touristic and pedagogical place that is impossible to circumvent for the walker in love with nature, like the enlightened botanist. This vegetable academy is a privileged support for the sensitizing of the visitors to the environment...
