At the heart of the Large Alps, there where Maurienne and Tarentaise are spread, under a shone upon climate, Vanoise collects more than 100 tops, exceeding 3 000 meters of altitude, where many glaciers carve the vertiginous slopes tirelessly. Lower, the life, multiple and abundant, seize the landscape: within vast mountain pastures, the men built houses where they cohabited, formerly, with the cattle during the long winter.
In the surrounding forests, wild fauna lives at the rhythm of the seasons: skilful ibexes and chamois, variable hares and busy marmots, field voles of snows and fast watery shrews, golden eagles, noisy grouses and black grouses; on the ground: discrete vipers and lizards, grass snakes; in water:the Original Alpine triton. In addition to the most common alpine species, the flora offers true jewels to the attentive amateur, the delicate blue thistle or the rare boreal linnée .
