A balcony of the central Solid mass thrown on
the Mediterranean, High-Languedoc is characterized by
a relief in the shape of crescent which profits from the
Atlantic and Mediterranean influences. At the same time
isolated vis-a-vis the large plains around and of an easy
access thanks to its many valleys, it was always regarded
as a place of refuge and exchange.
