the Marshes of Cotentin
and Bessin correspond to a vast depression of 25 000 hectares,
localised at the hinge of the two departments of the English
Channel(Manche) and Calvados.
The marshes of Douve, Taute, Vire,Aure, or those of Ay
and the East coast of Cotentin, make the originality of
the territory of the Park. Water is present everywhere:
within the rivers, channels, ditches. It ensures to the
Natural reserve its identity, even if the greatest part
of its territory is also consisted of an undulating scrap-metal
landscape, where the hedges draw the pieces. These vast
spaces cover a richness and a variety of species being
vegetable or animal that are so original, as they are
recognized of European and international value.
