On horse on two areas, Aquitaine and Limousin, and two departments, Dordogne and Haute-Vienna, the regional Natural reserve Périgord-Limousin was created in 1998. The richness of its history and the variety of its landscapes make a park fascinating to discover. To the borders of Aquitaine and Limousin, between Angouleme, Limoges and Périgueux, the the regional Natural reserve Périgord-Limousin offers a preserved country, with human dimensions and a rich inheritance. 50 000 inhabitants live on its 1 800 km2.

One can traverse during all the year remarkable natural sites there (wetlands, peaty, ponds,chalky lawns...), exceptional sites (giant crater of the meteorite of Rochechouart), and a fauna of a great interest and a great diversity (otter, cistude of Europe, dipper...). Earth of tradition with original know-how ("Charente-native" slippers, knife of Nontron, craft industry and the chestnut basket..), the Park is also a place of festivals and friendliness (Carnival of the Bellows, festivals of Boletus, Wood, Sweet chestnut, Festival of Bandaged, Fair to the Turkeys...) Many museums, churches and castles of the routes with topic such as the road Richard Coeur de Lion testify to a rich and sometimes animated history. Other places, such as the departmental Museum of Rochechouart which presents a remarkable collection of contemporary art, testify to the vitality of the creative spirit in Périgord-Limousin.
