Do you know the binturongs, the wolves with mane or the babiroussas?
Then come to discover or rediscover these animals which
populate the Zoological Space of Saint Martin the Plain.
Located vis-a-vis the Regional Natural reserve of Pilat, the
Zoological Space presents 350 animals divided into more
than 60 species of which some are unique in France.
At the Zoological Space, we were given the mission of
the conservation of the species threatened of extinction
while taking part in coordinated European programs (EEP).
Any commercial transaction is banished between the zoos
which collaborate in these plans of breeding. The animal
populations are managed in the long run, on genetic bases,
in order to ensure their everlastingness.
The Zoological Space of Saint Martin itself coordinates
the EEP for the Cockatoo of the Philippines, a rare parrot
threatened of disappearance. Since the creation of the
Zoological Space, we wished to initiate the young public
to better know the animals: a teaching book is proposed
to students of all ages. Each day towards 14pm one can
attend to the meals of the gorillas.
