Northern
Brittany :
Dossen
" Spots are so nice like Dossen (commune of Santec)
or Carantec. The first is excellent, quite simply, for almost
all the exposures of wind, there are waves... It is a treat.
The second is super for the slalom or the freeride because
there can be a clapot when the wind is in the North-East
or northern western, it is also perfect to just like begin
just like the beaches of Brignogan (that of the nautical
center) because there is a small bay where one has foot
all the time, ideal for the learning of the waterstart."
Lancieux (cotes d’armor 22)
Located
approximately to 20 km in the west of St Malo between St
Briac and St Jacut of the sea, this spot is especially intended
for those who practise the slalom. The spot is located in
a large bay and will reassure the beginners. The spot functions
by practically all the orientations, from S/SE to NE. What
is very rare for a spot of the coasts of Armor and makes
it possible to sail by almost all the conditions. During
the summer in June and September the spot is extremely crowded
since it is not very selective. In winter one always finds
people which is enough reassuring.
St
Malo (Ille et Vilaine 35) :
Who doesn't know St Malo, the road of rum and its strengthened
district? St Malo also has a super spot of waves to proscribe
with the beginners. Its name: The beach of the Furrow ".
To reach it, is so easy once you arrive at St Malo: it is
enough to go straight and to follow the blue panels indicating
the large hotel of the marine thermal baths. The parking
spaces, well located (with 10m of the Spot), are rarethat
is why it is better to arrive early. The spot functions
perfectly in waves by wind of west (from Sw Nw it is playable).
By West the waves are then "side Shore" and reserved
for those who like to sail port side. That can be large
and even very large, but it is really well, in addition
the level of some buildings is rather impressive. It is
less pleasant but one can also go there to sail by wind
of N (On Shore waves) or (Slalom). By SW the wind is often
irregular.
Southern
Brittany :
Point of Penmarc' H - the Torche
the Bigouden country is marvelously wild and beautiful:
vast moors or rocks brushed by the waves, storm after storm...
In the north of the point of Penmarc' H, it is the vast
bay of Audierne, with an immense beach of sand, vis-a-vis
to the west, cut by the point of Torche: a rock projection
advancing deeply (a hundred meters) in the ocean. An absolutely
single and splendid site!
In the south of the point, it is a vast beach until Guilvinec,
vis-a-vis the South. The whole is rather well windy, and
all these sites are distant of a few kilometers.

Northern
Corsica (Balagne) :
To practise the board in the north of Corsica, it is necessary
to go to Balagne (the area between Calvi and St Florent).
This part of the Island is copiously sprinkled by the winds
(though a little less than Southern Corsica ). The spot
of Balagne is Algajola (to pronounce "Algayol'"),
located between Calvi and the Rousse Island, which functions
very well by winds of west and western south. When the wind
rises, the conditions are rather slalom, but after 2 or
3 days of wind, the waves were formed and the spot becomes
very selective (large Shore break). The bay is located in
a village, therefore there are no problems of carpark, restaurant,
refreshment bar, etc... There is a club which proposes Fanatic
matos (information summer 2000).
