it is said QUEEN
of the alabaster coast... For multiple reasons besides
because one knows already that it is the oldest seaside
and climatic resort of the hexagon since the pebble
beaches under Napoleon 1st attracted a number of Parisians
- already! - despite of iodized air. 1936 and the
paid-leaves will see a true tidal wave on the city
and its area... The pleasures and the benefits of
the sea water baths could be known and shared by all,
Dieppe was one of the first witnesses. Town of holidays
but also town of travellers Dieppe accomodated whole
trains ‘ travellers and goods which left on
board the first car-ferries for England! Cargo liners
charged with fruits, steamers filled with cosmopolitan
and variegated, fishing travellers and traders bustling
at the place which one called the End of the Quay...
Dieppe is also a town of tradition with its workers
in ivory who worked this matter, today with the regulated
trade, in an incredible way. This great artistic dieppoisan
tradition is unfortunately disappearing and only some
Masters still work to perpetuate this knowledge which
little knows. Also, even one April 1, do not be surprised
if you see some teeth of cachalots carved with for
mention "speciality of Dieppe"... It is
only a genine truth! |
