The
archaeological garden of Vaison the Roman :
The archaeological museum is built amid a beautiful
archaeological garden where the walker can reconcile
historical lesson and relaxation. The ancient theatre,
very restored, presents a curious rupestral gallery.
A main intellectual effort is however necessary
to represent what could be Vaison at the time of
its glory. "All is vanity" says the philosopher...
The beautiful colonnades, the mosaics of marble
and the proud statues have the pain to revive ruined
splendours of this formerly prosperous city (the
ancient city counted as many inhabitants as Arles
or Frejus).
The
archaeological museum of Vaison the Roman :
The archaeological museum Théo Desplans gathers
the works discovered at the time of the excavations
of the ancient city. The museum is especially remarkable
for its pedagogy: it is not satisfied to present
to the public a great number of very beautiful objects;
it makes it possible with the visitors to comprehend
what could be a Gallo-Roman city.
A place particularly adapted to the visits of children.
