BASIN Of ARCACHON
a world apart
BIGANOS
In full heart of the delta of Leyre, Biganos is a place of
old settlement. From
immemorial time, the site was a crossroads impossible to circumvent
between the North and the South of the Basin. It was in particular
crossed by the "way of the salt" which, which coming
from the salt-water marshes of Audenge, joined the Roman way
of Teste of Buch in Bordeaux. Today, located at the doors
of the Regional Park of Landesof Gascogne, Biganos attracts
all those who wish to refresh within an exceptional setting
of greenery, and that is favourable to the dawdling and the
relaxation as well as the discovery of a remarkable and sometimes
exuberant fauna and flora.
AUDENGE
Between Basin and forest, at equal distance of the Point of
the Cape Tag and town of Arcachon, Audenge enjoys a privileged
geographical situation. The site was occupied since the iron
age and, in the XIIth century, there existed on the territory
of the commune two lordships: that of Audenge and that of
Certes. The headquarter of the latter was located at the field
which still bears this name, but there does not remain about
it any more but one feudal mound. Property today of the Academy
of the Littoral, this field, on which, majestic, throne a
vast residence of the XIXe century, is a true paradise which
shelters an exceptional fauna and a flora. Audenge has also
a typical oyster port, which knew to preserve charm and authenticity.
LANTON
Easy to access, Lanton forms part of these privileged places
which remained out of time. In full heart of the Basin, where
the ground and the sea do not make any more but one, Lanton
with its four boroughs (Lanton, Cassy, Toussat, Blagon) know
how to take time to live. Some choose the sea bathing, escape
for stroll by foot on the path of the littoral, in forest,
or, choose a walk by bicycle along the cycle tracks. The most
courageous leave to fishing of the shells. The others, finally,
stroll in the oyster ports and taste in the passing some oysters
of quality.
ANDERNOS LES BAINS
At hardly thirty minutes of Bordeaux, between
marine breezes and timbered scents, Andernos the Baths is
offered to you and reveals you all its beauties; here, the
life is rhythmized by the cycle of the tides. It is the secret
of this charm that has no similar which the paleolithic men
appreciated in turn, who had fixed themselves on the site
some eleven thousand years ago, then, much later, Greeks,
Iberians, Celtic and Romans. In your turn, discover its immense
beach bordered with pine forests, its natural reserves favourable
to long stroll, its forests, its cordial and coloured environment.
.
ARÈS
Quiet Beaches, salt meadow lambs, forests and clearings, kingdom
of the birds and the animals of wood, Arès is a city
in nature. Except in the centre town where they reach an urban
density, everywhere the dwellings are disseminated among the
pines. A few aside from the agglomeration, it is the oyster
port with its charming huts of fishermen. To the crossroads
of North Basin, the nearly island of the Cape Tag and the
access to the vineyards of the Medoc, Arès offers many
possibilities of easy stroll. It is an ideal site to explore
the country and to discover it under all its facets.
LEGE-CAP FERRET
Between the peaceful Basin of Arcachon and the impetuous ocean,
between the small handles bordered with pines and a beach
of infinite fair sand, in the medium of an astonishing and
quiet nature, in the perfumes of mimosa and broom, in the
resin scents, the nearly island of Lege-cap Ferret shells
along the coast picturesque ports and villages Claouey, Jacquets,
Four, Petit Piquey, Grand Piquey, Piraillan, Canon, Herbe,
Cap Ferret. Here, it is freedom, the light, the fresh and
iodized air, nature. In a few minutes, one passes from the
quietude of the Basin to the impetuous rollers of the ocean,
and from small bays to spaces without borders, from the animation
of a place of village to the calms of an immense marked out
forest with paths of walks and cycle trac.
