THE CLIFF OF VULTURES
The
guided visit
Cameras installed on the cliff close to nests, broadcast
in direct and on gigantic screen pictures of the fawn vultures
and their chicks in nests. 
In front of you, a guide pilots cameras from the museum
and comments on these fascinating pictures... from the bursting
to the first takeoff of youngsters while passing by the
feedings and the practice to the flight…
The free visit
Through tales and testimonies of shepherds, you will discover
through 372m and twelve rooms what is life like in mountain,
in this territory that the man and birds of prey share
All along this surprising course, innovantional and play
presentations will dive you in the magical universe of these
big birds of prey.
The Natural Reserve of Ossau
The Natural Reserve of Ossau, protects two sites of cliffs
and chalky debris of the right strand of the Ossau valley,
on a total surface of 82, 3 has.
Its creation goes up again to 1974 to the initiative of
the protective associations of the Nature, thanks to the
support of the common owners of lands: Aste-Béon,
Rod, Bilhéres and Castet.
The main objective of the Natural Reserve is to encourage
the reproduction of the fawn vulture colony. Its management
is assured by the National Park of the Pyrenees that proceeds
to surveillance (from December to September) .The law forbids
all penetration notably all year round during this period
and the skimming including free flight. The success of the
Natural Reserve of Ossau is bound to these some numbers:
To the creation: 10 couples adults and 7 young to the takeoff
In 2001: 116 couples adults and 97 young to the takeoff.
