LASCAUX II AT MONTIGNAC
The facsimile is located at 200 m far from
the original cave. The two reproduced galleries - "the
Room of the Bulls" and the "Axial Diverticulum"
- gather 90% of the paintings of Lascaux. Two " museographic
hoppers " making anteroom: recall the history of the
cave and explain the techniques of the artists. A true technological
prowess and a great scientific rigour made it possible to
recreate the incomparable atmosphere of the original cavity:
a ferro-concrete hull built to the image; shipbuildings, reliefs
restored in depth, and the polychrome paintings carried out
like there is nearly 17 000 years with natural dyes. Thus,
thanks to its double, the most famous paleolithic "sanctuary"
of the world is to reappear, to the sight of the public.
In space shop you will find all that you seek on Prehistory.
