RAIL ROADS OF the VELAY

HISTORIC
The tourist line Velay-Lignon arises from the network of railway of Vivarais, which connected the Rhone with the Loire formerly by crossing the tray Vellave. This network was opened in its totality in 1901. It was exploited commercially by the " Company of the Local Railroads " until the lock in 1968. Fortunately, two lines of exchange were saved during the dismantling, of which Dunières's line in Saint - Agrève. This last one is the property of a union of communes now, regrouping all the crossed municipalities.it is for purely for tourist vocation henceforth.

THE ASSOCIATION
The exploitation of the line and the conservation of vehicles are completely assured by the volunteers of the Railroads association of Velay.

RECEPTION OF THE GROUPS
Exploitation is opened of Easter to the All Saints' Day.
The groups can travel:
Aboard the regular trains according to days and schedules established for the season;
Aboard special trains, started up for them, in the days and hours to agree.
