CIRCUITS OF THE
PAROCHIAL ENCLOSURES
The Parochial Enclosures are today the witnesses of a religious
devotion, of an artistic talent and of an exceptional ostentation
of the last centuries. From the XVIth to the XVIIIth century,
the Parochial Enclosure is an architectural unit including
within a stone endorsement, the church and its bell-tower,
the ossuary, the martyrdom, the cemetery and a triumphal door.
The emulation between the parishes, competing between them
for the research of the most beautiful and the most sumptuous
of the enclosures, added to the prosperity of the time, made
it possible to the artists to bloom and to express all their
creativity and know-how. Sculptors, cabinetmakers, painters,
goldsmiths, glassmakers, embroiderers..., known or anonymous
artists, they signed all there works of exception which will
not fail to fill you with wonder.
Three circuits furrow the country through three loops from
50 to 70 km each one, presenting to you the architectural
jewels of its Parochial Enclosures (document of free call,
