GUER-COETQUIDAN
Old diocese of St-Malo, Guer was called formerly "Argwern",
Breton word which means "Alder plantation". At the
Gallo-Roman time, Guer is located in the important crossing
of the Roman ways connecting Angers to Carhaix, Rieux with
Corseul and Vannes to Rennes. Located at the confluence of
2 rivers, Aff and Oyon, Guer is a place of inspiration for
the painters, thanks to its green landscapes. Varied natural
spaces are to be discovered with the liking, such as hiking
trails: the Hillock of Dran~ Vauvert, Pierre Tremblante...
The amateurs of traditional products will be able: To taste
Breton champagne cider and to visit the Cider-house of Guer-Coëtquidan,
located in edge of the zone of activities of the Coric Valley,

.Find in the butcher's and pork butcher's shops a typically
Guer speciality: "foie pane".
The Agri-Auto Museum, in town centre, put
in scene more than 500 machines and tools telling the history
of the agricultural world from1850 up to our days and present
about fifteen cars of collection. Open on Sundays from May

The Saint-Etienne Priory
To 3 km of Guer,one finds the axis of Augan/Ploërmel
(D 772), or Monteneuf/ Malestroit .The vault proves to be
the oldest religious building of the department (MW). It was
built between 832 and 868 and still has vestiges of the Gallo-Roman
time. At the interior, you will be able to admire there the
painted walls of XVth century, an altarpiece of XVIIth and
the St-Etienne statue (XVIIIth) and of Ste-Apolline (XIIIth
century). The vault also shelters an archaeological exhibition.

It is in Coëtquidan locality, at 5 km in the North of
Guerque is the inter-arm school of St-Cyr by gathering today
more than 5000 people the enclosure of its camp. The
Museum of the Memory, national museum, located at
the centre of the Schools, presents a true retrospective of
what was the training life of the officers of Saint-Cyr military
school. Many uniforms make it possible to follow the vestimentary
evolution since the juniors-gentlemen of Louis XIV until our
days. It gathers single collections of personal objects, authentic
documents, weapons... having belonged to famous characters
such as Napoleon, Gaulle, Lyautey...
