mauron
This small city played a part in the war
of succession between the partisans of Jeanne de Penthièvre
(Blois) and those of Jeanne de Flandres (Montfort). Mauron
is taken by the troops of Montfort during the captivity of
Charles de Blois. In his ride, the young Montfort, future
duke of Brittany sees several cities passing to the French
party under his aegis. Josselin resists but Mauron and Ploërmel
surrender. In Mauron, the young duke remained 12 days. The
battle of Mauron,on 14 August 1352 will remain in our annals:
close to the manor of Brenbili, more than 600 fench Bretons
and as many English are massacred, leaving the army of Charles
de Blois seriously cut down of its best chiefs.

The church of Mauron
It shows a gate on which are represented scenes of the Genesis,
in particular 1; creation of the woman, complement and "completion"
of the man Adam. Until 1790, the parish of Mauron belonged
to the abbey of Paimpont. In the southern entry of Mauron,
on the bridge on the right, pond of Folie with "course
health" and on the left, departure of the Green Way:
it is reserved for the non- motorized displacements. Nature
there is luxuriant, and it is accessible to the greatest number;indeed
it is safe and marked out.
The Green Way of Mauron Questembert
It is intended to the pedestrians, to the cyclists, for the
rollers and to the people with reduced mobility. Carparks
between Néant sur Yvel and Mauron allow the access
in any season.
Bois de la Roche
This village forms part of the commune of Mauron. The principal
street cuts it from the castle and its field and Néant
sur Yvel: the whole forms a harmonious set with the character
affirmed by a famous past. Today, this village attracts the
painters, writers, tattoers, etc...
