Large
Limestone plateau of Millau
Located at the center of the regional Natural reserve of
Grands Causses, in the confluence of the Gorges of Tarn
and Dourbie, Millau asserts an exceptional environment allowing
the practice of the sports of full nature on arranged sites:
climbing, coasting flight, canoe-kayak, pedestrian excursion,
VTT... Preserved nature, art of living and authenticity
constitute the labels for a reception of quality. In Millau,
the industrial tradition dates from the Gallo-Roman time,
when "the city of the confluence" exported its
potteries sigillées in all the Roman empire: a witness
of the archeological site of Graufesenque. Later, it is
the industry of the skin and the glove which makes the fame
of local know-how with a label "City and trades of
art". In 2005, Millau will see the construction of
its Viaduct, single art work in the world, culminating at
340 meters and extending over2,5 km of length.
GORGES
OFJONTE AND TARN
In a majestically contrasted country, where nature engraved
and carved arid limestones plateau and splendid valleys,
the gorges of Tarn and Jonte furrow and cut out the Black,
Méjean and Sauveterre Grands Causses, that are large
limestones plates located at nearly 1 000 m of altitude,
extending to Cevennes. Registered within the regional Natural
reserve of Large Grands Causses, this area that is respectful
of its environment, its historical and cultural inheritance
and its ancestral traditions offers multiple activities
and natural richnesses to you: beaches and nautical activities
(bathe, fishing, canoe...), many swallow-holes and caves,
without forgetting the gastronomy. The hiking trails marking
out this imposing landscape will enable you to discover
typical hamlets, wild flora and fauna, such as the moufflons
and fawn-coloured vultures.
Larzac
wild and imposing Landscapes, the larzac extend on a surface
of 320 800 ha. Placed quite naturally in the center of the
regional Natural reserve of Grands Causses, this one is
next to the regional Natural reserve of High Languedoc and
the national park of Cevennes, with which it constitutes
one of greatest natural spaces in Europe. With this evocation
emerges the image of a dry and arid ground populated of
herds of ewe whose milk is used for manufacture of the famous
Roquefort. In the crossroads, the Templar and Hospitaller.
sites are important stages of XIIth century. All coast each
other but none resembles the other,with each one exposing
with pride its character. A majestic rural inheritance which
knew to keep its simplicity and often its use. Here and
there, one still distinguishes the rammed stone ponds.
COUNTRY
OF ROQUEFORT
Country of the famous Roquefort cheese, fertile
ground where the ewes feed, the limestones plateau evokes
the image of an inaccessible and immense dry ground strewn
with limestones rocks. St-Affrique, town of 8 000 inhabitants
between limestones plateau and valleys, animate the country
of Roquefort. Cut in the gray schistre, Raspes overhanging
Tarn offers the possibility of thousands discoveries. At
the turning of a way, of a forest, the round and green Mounts
let us see the beauty of its villages and its perched stronghold
castles. In the South, the romanticism forms a unit with
the landscape. Universe of the colors, Rougier fills with
wonder. Between blood- red and brick- red it is only the

Lévézou
Lévézou is a magic country.
The artists born here strongly affirmed it in image or verse

is a fresh air blast on a lake with the sun. Look at! ...
the surface of water quivers "Lévézou
knew to conquer Gerard Klein. From the top of the Seigne
Mount (1128m), the sight slips on the lakes and offers the
show of a serene nature. Covered mounts of a serene nature.
The covered mounts of a long wooded band of chestnuts and
oaks mark the altitude. A such inland sea, the Lake of Pareloup
undulates endlessly, bathe,sailboard, fishing: it is a true
paradise. Native soil of the famous entomologist Jean-Henri
Fabre, Saint-Léons shelters in the hollow of the
Micropolis a small valley: the city of the insects.

In Southern-Pyrenees area, Aveyron is one of the pioneer
departments as regards the reception of the children. Equipped
with a true policy of communication, the Departmental Committee
and the Regional Committee of tourism work in close cooperation
with the offices of Tourism and tourist offices by developing
many operations to the benefit of the families. The department
publishes each year a booklet of reception "Aveyron
Junior" which counts the good tracks to be followed
in family. A destination by excellence, here all their good
senses and their imagination are to share the beautiful
and unusual meetings. Tourist sites, shelterers, restorers
take also actions in this direction. Do not be astonished
if your children settle easily in a space especially conceived
for them: small tables, chairs, colourings, plays... or
