Castle of Roy René
Roy Castle is a magnificent and powerful building, one of
the finest medieval castles in France. On the remains of an
ancient Roman castrum, Charles I of Anjou built in the XIII
century fortress, Louis II of Anjou had it demolished to build
on its position in 1400, the magnificent castle whose work
ended in 1449 under the aegis of King René.
Collegiate Sainte-Marthe
Silhouette composite built on a Roman sanctuary, rebuilt over
the centuries, the Collegiate is one of the most beautiful
sanctuaries Provence Gothic and Romanesque regarded as one
of the highlights of the Midi. The interior, a rich collection
of religious paintings adorn chapels,
the crypt contains the sarcophagus carved from Sainte Marthe
(fourth century).
Monasteries and convents
Before the French Revolution, Tarascon was not less than fifteen
religious communities. On the square Frédéric
Mistral, stands the former cloister of the Cordeliers, built
around 1550. This beautiful Renaissance cloister is now part
of many exhibitions. A few kilometers in Montagnette, the
cloister of Saint Michel Frigolet is Romanesque (twelfth century).

of Tradition
Tarascon shares with other cities provençales the meaning
of the festival is here a particular richness. Traditions
bullfighting, equestrian, folk are involved, from both the Camargue
and Provence. No festival is happening in the country Tarascon
without the work involved there. Ferradas, abrivado, Camargue
races, and another group farandoles to the rhythm of traditional
penas.
In the evening, in summer, the terraces of cafes and wineries,

The Musum of Souleïado
A hymn to the colors of Provence ... In the great mansion
of Amigny (fifteenth and seventeenth centuries), Demery Charles,
heir to an ancestral know-how, create the brand in 1939 and
founded Souleiado this museum that mixes the history of Provence
and tradition of the "Indian". These cotton fabrics
printed with colorful patterns today called "Provence"
are found in the Provençal costume pieces or in beautiful
quilted. Besides the history of the factory, the museum presents
charming scenes of everyday life in Provence in the nineteenth
century, earthenware, pottery and a large collection of plates
of the thirteenth century for the printing of fabrics.
The Markets
Place of meetings and discoveries, the Provençal market
is a delight for the senses. The wines of Provence in the

scents of spices and herbs mingle with the colors of fruits
