Murs Peints
The City of Angoulême, the capital of the International
Comics and Image, had to print an "image" BD to
the city, without falling into a kind of 'comic
Land".
Led by Philippe MOTTET, Mayor of Angouleme, the City Council
in 1998 decided to adopt a three-year program of painted
walls (1999-2000-2001). Given the success among both angoumoisins
as tourists, the City agreed in 2002 to repeat the experiment
for three years.
This operation would have happened without public and private
partnerships. The public partner is the General Council
of Charente.
Begun by the city and the city entrances, walls painted
then spread on neighborhoods. They are the subject of a
tourist route launched by the Communication Department in
collaboration with Via Patrimoine.
These walls are made by "Cité de la Création"
association "muralists" Lyons who work in the
world. However, Angoulême is the only city where artists
develop a comprehensive policy for several years.
In addition to this wall painted plates more miles of streets
have been recreated in the form of "bubble" since
1997.
