Pole of the porcelain
Timeless objects
The cup "bar with sides" or " café cup" born in 1904 is always present in the breweries and the cafés. The "mazagran". In 1841 the battle of Mazagran in Algeria is gained by the duke of Aumale. The Berry inhabitants ,attending the surrender brought back "a funny cup" in which they had drunk the tea. The form was then reproduced in Berry. The sighed " head of lion", a great classic of Pillivuyt, which today still is turned by the hand.
Single pieces
the windows of exhibition present a set of exceptional pieces carried out in the workshop of creation of Alphonse Lamarre "the special one" within the pillivuyt manufacture. Of a pure style "new art " these pieces were awarded in the various World Fairs. They will make you discover the porcelain of Berry as you never saw it.

Berry :a porcelain site of exception
Brought back from China by Marco Polo, the porcelain did not cease fascinating. Its manufacture starts in Europe since the XVIIIth century. In the XIXthy century, the production develops in Mehun-sur-yévre under the impulse of Charles Pillivuyt and 150 years later the company remains leader in its sector: the catering and the culinary.

Strange objects
A high and complex technology allow the use of the porcelain in unexpected industrial sectors : medical, chemistry, energy, aeronautics...

A magic show
By a subtle set of lights ,you enter the invaluable world of the porcelain. Sat vis-a-vis to the natural elements such as the granite, water, the wind, fire, you attend the transformation of the granite into the thinest of clays: the Kaolin.
