At the COUNTRY OF the GREENHOUSES
VISIT the CAVES OF LASTOURNELLE
At Saint Colombe of Villeneuve,
in Lot and the Garonne, at the heart of a splendid blue sky
and bosky bower, the Caves of Lastournelle are a true "Pearl
of Aquitaine".
These entirely natural Caves, still in activity, began there
at more than twenty five million years, at the end of the
tertiary era, and eversince, they did not cease decorating
an infinity of stalactites, stalagmites and draperies of an
incomparable richness. They make it possible to better understand
the particular geology of this part of the Lot-and-Garonne
called "Country of Greenhouses".
They are made up of seven rooms:
- Room of the Well
- Ratopénado Room
- Round Room
- Room of the Columns
- Marboutin Room
- Room of the Statue
- Room of the Source
Their very respectful installation of the site allows a pleasant
visit in contact with nature.
